POKOTABI / Tsukiji Sushi
つきじ寿司
Located in Tsukiji 6-chome, Tsukiji Sushi offers carefully prepared nigiri, chef's omakase, and rich broth-based miso soup, from lunchtime sushi sets and kaisendon to evening sashimi paired with drinks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Step away from the lively main avenues of Tsukiji into a quieter side street, and Tsukiji Sushi welcomes you with the unassuming warmth of a neighborhood sushi spot. Past the sliding door, the counter seating provides a comfortable escape from the surrounding market bustle for a calm meal.
At lunch, diners often turn to the nigiri sets and generously portioned large-serving platters, both served with a bowl of miso soup. Nicely balanced seasoned rice meets thoughtfully prepped fish, showing the steady hand and technique behind each piece. The accompanying miso soup draws deep flavor from shellfish and shrimp stock, and sipping it between pieces of nigiri adds a comforting layer of warmth to the meal.
For a more leisurely lunch or an evening sitting, the chef's omakase offers an inviting way to savor the day’s selected cuts at your own pace. The selection of donburi bowls is just as broad, ranging from classic akami and medium-fatty chutoro to full tuna bowls topped with otoro and negitoro, alongside colorful chirashi and kaisendon loaded with varied seafood.
Enjoying an assorted sashimi plate or thin rolls over a cold bottle of Sapporo Red Star or Kirin Lager is one of the classic pleasures of a neighborhood sushi counter. Because the shop accepts cash only, stopping by with Japanese yen in hand ensures a smooth, uncomplicated visit.
